Cross-Sector Collaboration Tools and Stories

After hearing workshop participants’ own stories and ideas about critical things needed to ensure successful cross-sector partnerships, workshop organizer and facilitator Hal Hamilton, of the Sustainable Food Lab, gave a short presentation on some frameworks and tools he uses to help businesses and nonprofits collaborate in his own work. Starting with an early career as a dairy farmer in Appalachian Kentucky, Hal knows the food chain inside and out, and told many stories of his own life as well as the work that he and the Sustainable Food Lab are engaged in.

The Sustainable Food Lab works with partners on every scale to help ensure the sustainability of local and global food systems – Hal’s stories gave participants a sense of how to engage executives from major corporations in planning and thinking alongside them for a more sustainable future, and made it clear that leaders from corporations of every scale are thinking about and working towards a more sustainable future, and looking for partners to help them get there.
